Network Engineer

PingTone is in search of a talented Network Engineer to join our team and help manage our IP backbone. Reporting to the Director of Network Engineering the successful applicant will spend equal time on project work and the day to day operations of the network. The candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills and have the ability to interact with outside vendors and customers.

Responsibilities

• Design, test and implement solutions on the IP backbone.


• Integrate and troubleshoot sophisticated, third-party applications.


• Deploy networking equipment in our regional data centers.


• Monitor the performance and reliability of our network.


• Resolve escalated issues in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience as a network engineer preferably on a service provider backbone.


• Strong knowledge of the OSI model, IP networking and related technologies.


• Extensive experience with Cisco hardware (7200 Series routers, AS5000 Series Media Gateways, Catalyst switches and PIX firewalls).


• Experience with telco hardware (MUXs, DSX panels, patch panels, etc.).


• Experience with IP routing using OSPF and BGP.


• Experience with MPLS, IP QOS, and VoIP a plus.


• Working knowledge of Unix.


• BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems preferred.


• Cisco Certified Professional or Expert is a plus.
